Shan community meeting in Bangkok


On February 3, 2013, Shan University students (SUS) organized the meeting at Assumption
University in Bangkok, Thailand.

The objectives of the meeting are to have the strengthen network and friendship of people
in Bangkok and gradually expand to whole Thailand. Moreover, the participants also talked
about to address the challenges that Shan communities are facing and draft salutations in
respond to them. They are also discussed the problem or challenges of education, media,
politic and health. After that they are drafting collaborate future action plans.


Sai Nyunt Lwin General Secretary of the Shan Nationalities League for Democracy (SNLD)
is a special guest in the meeting. He came to join the meeting a few hours. He gave a short
speech to encourage students to try the best for study.


Sai Nyunt Lwin said that “Education is very important for the future. We need to promote
everything in our country such as doctors, nurse, police, journalist, politic and engineer etc.
All of you who have education should go back and help to promote our country after you
complete your education.”

Sai Nyunt Lwin is in Thailand since 17 January to have his hernia and piles operated. He
decided to go back to Burma today.
